SOUNDINGS/SONDEOS Series, 2016
Lithograph, Serigraph & Intaglio of LP & 45 rpm records
This series tracks LP & 45 rpm records from the late 60's to early 80's that have biographical significance. The prints play on the pun of "recording" a "record". I am interested also in how music and sound can tap into the powerful sense of memory of an individual. These records, which remain anonymous, also explore the idea of "representation." Does the record without a title, without the track's song information elicit any sense of memory–augmented or perhaps a sense of loss? Can music be represented by physical marks on a record?
